In 2011, Lions Club International carried out a campaign to plant One Million trees around the world, so as to preserve mother earth.
Fourteen Lions clubs of Region 1 from Kuching, Serian and Bau joined forces with Padawan Municipal Council and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation to plant 500 trees at the MJC new township on the 8th and 11th October 2011. The objectives of this meaningful joint project are
- to create an awareness for the need to protect our natural environment
- to sustain our resources for our future generations and to inspire other members of the public to plant more trees and shrubs to beautify our environment.

YB Ir. Lo Khere Chiang who was and still is the chairman of the Padawan Municipal Council called on all associations to emulate the Lions clubs’ tree planting activity in a global effort to protect our environment.
A signage to signify the presence of the Lions' effort was finally installed at the Park. It took place about 9 years after the project was completed and on the 1st anniversary of our late PP Ivy Fong, who was the organising chairperson for the projects.
