Region 1 Trees Planting project on Mount Mike, Matang

President Vincent Tan, his spouse, treasurer Irene Tan and member Caroline Wee took part in this Region 1 project. The outing involved a hike up from Lion Mike's camp to the Hindu Temple which took about an hour. After a short rest, we proceed to plant 50 trees around the vicinity of the temple. As it coincided with Malaysia Day, Lions and Leos commemorate the occasion by standing at attention, singing the National Anthem whilst Region Chairperson Peter Ong raised the Malaysian Flag. A long string of firecrackers was also let off in celebration. Thereafter everyone walked down the trail back to Lion Mike's Camp for lunch and fellowship. The heavens were kind....it rained after we got back to camp.

Donation to fire victims of the Tebedu Shophouses 4th Sept 2011

Lions Club of Kuching City with 5 other Region 1 clubs donated towards the fund for the fire victims in Tebedu. District 308-A2 foundation donated RM2,000 towards this fund. 14 shophouses and 1 wooden house were burnt to the ground on 27 August 2011.

Lions Club of Kuching City was represented by President Vincent Tan, Treasurer Irene Tan and ZC1 Ivy Fong.

KGS-Lions Club of Kuching City Golf Tournament 2011- Hole in One Prize

Edaran Tan Chong Motors Sdn Bhd generously donated one Nissan Teana towards the Hole in One prize for the club's major fund raising to be held on the 9th October 2011

HOPE (Home of Peace) visit 1st September 2011

Lions Club of Kuching City's members visited HOPE on 1st September 2011 to celebrate the birthday of resident Fung Nyuk Joon aka Ah Poh who will be 84 on the 14th September 2011. This is the last of the 8 residents's birthday for the year in the home.

Six members, lead by President Vincent Tan visited PP Juriah and family on the second day.

President Vincent Tan lead 7 members on a Hari Raya visit to PP Sheila Adenan and PP Cecil Adenan's house on the first day.

Taiwan YE visit

President Vincent Tan hosted a seafood dinner for the two YE from Taiwan. Region Chair 1 Peter Ong and ZC1 Ivy Fong also attended the fellowship.

Joint Project in St Luke's Eldercare,Serangoon Center, Singapore 23rd August 2011

A joint project between Lions Club of Kuching City, Singapore Central and Miri Central at an elderly day centre in Serangoon.



OC,Lion Millie Loon lead a group of lions from Singapore Central, Kuching City and Miri Central to visit the elders at the centre.

Lion Millie cooked curry, beehoon, barley soup along with bread, cakes and fruits to share with the old folks.



St Luke’s ElderCare provides a range of day care services to help families take care of their elderly loved ones. Besides social day care, they also provide active rehabilitation and wellness. At present there are around 100 elders in the centre.
